PDA Genealogy Software
Genealogy software for PDAs, whether the Palm or Windows
operating system, is relatively new. With each software package, you maintain
your genealogy records on your desktop or laptop computer, then synchronize
those records with the data on a PDA.
Palm Operating System

basic, plus, and pro versions. The basic version
accepts genealogical data from GEDCOM files. The plus version is
identical to the basic version, except that import is direct from
Legacy or The Master Genealogist databases. The pro version offers an
expanded display of your genealogical data. The pro version imports
genealogical data directly from a database of The Master Genealogist. Direct
import by the pro version of other application databases is planned.
The pro version supports databases containing 45,000 individuals,
plus associated data.|
Syncronizes data from your PC based genealogy database to your Palm PDA
using a GEDCOM file. Accepts up to 65,000 individuals, plus events and other
data. The web site contains extensive screen samples. Includes a note taking
feature that exports from your PDA.
) Accepts new records, or permits editing of existing
records, with the transfer of new data back to your PC database. Accepts
sketches for such as maps to cemeteries, grave locations, tombstones, even
to ancestor farms. Requires SmartList To Go from DataViz.
My Roots (
) Supports both PC, MacIntosh and Unix. Works with GEDCOM files
from major genealogical applications. Limits genealogy to 10,000
individuals. Accepts new individuals or editing existing records, with the
transfer of new data back to your PC database.

Ancestral File (PAF). The PAF Data Viewer works directly with a PAF
Windows PocketPC Operating System

Pocket Genealogist (http://www.northernhillssoftware.com/
) Offers direct synchronizing with databases
maintained by Legacy, Personal Ancestral File (PAF), and The Master
Genealogist (TMG), along with GEDCOM files produced by 15 different
genealogical applications. To select a specific GEDCOM type to import,
select Options > Advanced and then pick from the GEDCOM Profiles
drop-down list box on the Advanced Program Options dialog box.
